What Should I Do Today?

I’ve googled a lot of topics including ones like “what should Del do today?.” (Just so you know, nothing comes of that – and if it did? I’d be runnin’ in the other direction)

Google won’t tell you what to do today.

You can’t ask Google to solve your life problems, tell you what to do today, or make life decisions.

If you want to discover how to set up a blog, market on social media, or become a rock star Etsy shop owner? Sure, you can google that. And you’ll get a gazillion ideas and opinions. It’s enough to make you want to run in the other direction and give up altogether. But that’s something to cover some other day.

When You Want Answers for A Life Decision

You could sift through old journals like I did this morning.

They’ll tell a tale of your hopes and dreams. What was working and what wasn’t. It’s helpful, but it might leave you wandering into down that old rabbit hole.

Another choice? Put Today in God’s Hands

If your issue is a life decision or a question of which way to turn in the maze you’ve found yourself in? Trust in the Lord.

God will help you find the way.

It’s trusting in God that brought me back to writing a blog.

Yes, google those things that will help you find resources.

And trust God for direction in your life.

Until next time, enjoy your day and the journey

Worries? Give them to God.

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)

Have you ever felt anxious or worried about something, that compared to what others are going through, it makes you feel like you shouldn’t bring it to God?

God’s word doesn’t specify only the big things. It says All your worries.

You might feel anxious about something, as simple as, having a neighbor over for coffee. Or writing a blog post! 🙂

Even though what ever is going on in your life life might might not be earth-shattering. Not life-altering. You can bring the situation to the Lord.

You can give him all of it.

He loves you and cares about you. All of you.

Until tomorrow

Until next time, enjoy your day and the journey

Wardrobe Malfunction? No One Will Notice

Don’t Worry. They Won ‘t Even Notice.

Good advice but not so easy. And when you have a wardrobe malfunction at a party??? It’s hard not to think everyone is looking at you.

There I was. Walking across the lawn and down a hill in my favorite, to die for high heels. When I stepped onto the tiled floor, I saw what I thought was a leaf stuck to my shoe. Ick how did that happen! I had no idea it was really a wardrobe malfunction.

I tried my best to get rid of the thing. But it wouldn’t budge.

When I finally reached my husband, I asked if he would help me get this leaf off my shoe.

It’s not a leaf, It’s a wardrobe malfunction

He looked at it, along with my daughter in law and they both said.
It’s not a leaf, it’s part of your shoe! Insert horror music here.

Damn. My favorite shoes! 12 years of parties, weddings, funerals, and even going to work. And they decided it was time to quit. But here? Now?

Proverbs 29:15. Don't worry Wardrobe Malfunction

Everyone is looking at me

With the bottom of my shoe flopping backward making me feel like I was walking on a wad of something you don’t want to be walking on, I casually walked to my seat. Thinking. EVERYONE is staring at me. They’re wondering what is wrong with me. Everyone is…

On a more serious note.

Even if people were staring at me, wondering what was wrong with me, it isn’t where I want to focus my life and energy.

I like the way Christine Caine puts it.

“Until we care more about what God thinks than what other people think we are never truly free.”

Christine Caine

Whether it’s a wardrobe malfunction or something else. You might feel like people are going to notice. They probably won’t

But honestly? Does it matter?

In the grand scheme of things, I ended up with a funny story to tell. And a reason to go out and buy a new pair of “to die for high heels”.

Wardrobe malfunctions, like your shoes falling apart, aren’t all that important.

The Lesson Learned?

I could have spent the afternoon and evening worrying about what other people were thinking about my shoes and shoeless state. It would have taken the fun out of the party.

Unless your walking down that Red Carpet at the emmy awards? No one is paying any attention to your wardrobe malfunctions.

(They’re probably worrying about their own. 🙂 )

This is a light-hearted approach to an issue that can stop you in your tracks and stop you from enjoying life. It doesn’t have to be a wardrobe malfunction causing your worry (or mine) about what others think about you. That worry or fear is why it took me forever to make this website live. It’s something I struggle with and am learning to lean on God through the little funny things like this and the bigger more serious stuff of life.

Journal it out. Figure it Out.

I love to journal. I’ve journaled and wrote in diaries since I was a little kid. I’ve burnt them, thrown them and disposed of them throughout the years too. I don’t journal to leave my story behind I journal to work out life’s ups and downs, to figure stuff out, and to write blog posts.

I journal to figure out the Stuff of Life.

When I have a problem or a decision to make. I journal about it. Sometimes I’m surprised by what I end up writing and how much it helps.

No Computer Needed for This Job

I also like to scrawl it out by hand. No computer necessary! A simple notebook and a pen or pencil. That’s all you’ll need. (I buy a bunch of notebooks when they’re on sale and a nice sharp pencil.

Journaling Prompts too.

Journaling prompts aren’t necessary. but if you have a tendency to get in a loop of negativity or caught up on the same topic they can help you:

  • Stay out of the trap of going round in circles,
  • Stay clear of the Negative Nellie Syndrome
  • Give you topics that you may not have thought of journaling about.

I fancy journaling off of my morning devotionals, a bible study, or personal development books. You may also like this collection of Prayer Journal Prompts from Rachel Wojo.

You’ll Have To Get Your Feet Wet

” It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge, the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea[c] until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the town of Jericho.” Joshua 3:15-16

I used to run my to-do list for the next day through my head, when I woke up in the middle of the night.

  • Make the bed,
  • Empty the dishwasher,
  • Do laundry,
  • What workout am I doing?
  • Do I need to take anything out for lunch or dinner?

Now when I wake up I pray.

Last night I was awake for hours. So I prayed about everything and for everybody that popped into my head. I kept praying that God would tell me what I needed to do with my blog.

That’s when I felt like God told me to just shut up and listen. Maybe not in those words, more like Adele, take a breath. Stop talking to me and listen. Take a walk with me.

One thing I need to tell you is I visualize stuff, I don’t care if you think I’m nuts here. But last night I could see myself walking with Jesus through a stormy time and then along an the edge of the ocean.

The waves gently slapping against the shore and receding. And then we sat in the sand.

“This is nice and I’m not even getting my feet wet!”

And my eyes were opened, I need to get my feet wet!

God asked the Israelites to take a step into the river when it was overflowing at its banks. That must have been terrifying! Have you ever stood at the edge of a rushing overflowing river? Yikes. But they had the faith to step in and God kept them safe, let them all pass on dry land.

After a couple of weeks of fearful stops and starts to write a blog post, I feel God asking me to take get my feet wet, so to speak. 🙂

What about you? What is one step is God asking you to take today? Get your feet wet, it’s the only way to enjoy the journey.
