It’s easy to get caught up in learning.
You know, read the books, take more classes, and google it. Learning is at our fingertips.
But I felt paralyzed by it and lost the courage to move forward. Ever been there?
(By the way, learning paralysis or analysis paralysis is a real thing. It comes down to information overload.)
Well, that happened to me at the beginning of the year.
This is my story…
So, I was happily writing blog posts – but I decided I needed to hone my skills. Write better. Blog better. Do all this internet stuff better.
Nothin’ wrong with that, right?
Just finding us? Why not join the Scrappy Mystery Quilt Adventure today? You’ll receive your getting started guide, followed by block one on the first day. The remaining blocks and assembly directions will follow a few days apart. It’s 100% Free.
You need to learn the basics.
The scales at the piano, the simple quilt blocks, best practices for websites, and basic rules of good writing.
The problem was I spent so much time in the learning process I was procrastinating in the doing process.
As I read more books and added more classes, I started thinking I was doing everything wrong. The next thing I knew, I was hesitant to put anything creative into the world.
Yup, learning is good. Unless it stops us in our tracks, steals our creative mojo, and robs us of courage.
That isn’t what God wants for us.
The thing is, I was beginning to rest and take comfort in that learning stage. Heck, it’s easy to convince yourself you aren’t ready if you’re still learning!
But there isn’t any fun or adventure in that approach.
So, you might be wondering how I pushed passed it.
I put the book down (it was a book on writing) and got to work on my writing.
Join in the fun and make this scrappy quilt.
The fun is in doing…
Creating the quilt, even if it is complicated!
Playing piano for the people, jitters and all.
Writing the blog post and pushing the publish it button.
That’s where life is.
It’s using those gifts and talents to bless others…
Until next time, enjoy your day and the journey
