Growing the Fruit of Goodness

goodness with quilting

Quilts aren’t just scraps of fabric thrown together. They embody the Fruit of the Spirit. Love, Peace, Joy, Kindness, Patience, Faithfulness, Self-Control, Gentleness, Goodness. Those gifts from the Holy Spirit are working in our lives every time we sit down and create.

When you set out to make a quilt, especially for another, you’ll think about that person a lot during the project.

Something happens to that relationship. A special something. You find yourself thinking about that person and what they mean to your life.

A bond of love will grow. Peace in your heart. The joy of creating something for them. Kindness in the act of giving to another. And bringing joy to their life.

And because quilting can be a little overwhelming at times. It takes faithfulness and patience, with a smidge of self-control, to finish the project at hand.

What about Goodness?

Goodness is about doing the right thing. Having Integrity. Things like that.

So, how does a quilt project, like our table runner, help develop the fruit of Goodness?

I believe it develops integrity in your work, for one.

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.

Colossians 3:23

If integrity develops in your creative world, isn’t it logical that it would seep into your everyday life?

So quilt on my friends, and continue to grow in the Fruit of the Spirit.

Goodness Harvest Table Runner Fruit of the Spirit Quilter's Journey Pattern number 8

The Harvest Table Runner

I created and designed this table runner for the Fruit of the Spirit Quilter Journey. I made it with fabrics I had on hand, which created a few challenges. The name of the quilt block is raspberry cheesecake.

Where can you get the pattern?

The pattern is available from my shop, The Quilted Bungalow.

Until next time, enjoy your day and the journey
